An Integrated Resort (IR) is a euphemism for mixed-use developments with a casino in Singapore. During a parliament session on 18 April 2005, Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore, announced the cabinet's decision to develop two integrated resorts in Marina South and Sentosa. These are planned to be completed in 2009, and would be the first casinos in the country.^
This programme is designed to introduce students to the business world in general with relation to the hospitality and resort industry. As a student, you will have good overview of the industry and have sound business foundation skills. Knowledge gain will prepare students for entry level positions in the industry.

Programme Objectives
To prepare students who are interested in entry level positions in the hospitality and resort industry.
Students who complete the Diploma may continue with the advanced diploma for more in-depth knowledge of the various aspects of a resort and gain a more supervisory perspective.
To meet the growing demand for hospitality and resort trained staff, this diploma will include important concepts such as:
The understanding of demand and supply through the principles of Economics covering both micro- and macro-economic theory.
Understanding of the Tourism and Hospitality Industries.
The different parts of a resort, such as the Rooms, Food and Beverage, Spa, Golf Courses, Retail stores, Casino, Activities and Attractions.
Introducing students to the world of conventions, meetings, & expositions and the many career opportunities available due to the tremendous growth in these service sectors over the past 20 years.
Sales and Marketing for a Resort.
Demonstration of key skills in Mathematics, Information Technology, Research and Independent Learning.

Programme Entry Requirements
Applicants to be considered for the Diploma programme must normally have:
a) GCE ‘A' Levels, or
b) Higher NITEC, or
c) Senior high school certificate, or
d) International Diploma from Auston Institute of Management & Technology, or
e) Professional Certificate from recognised institutions.
Exceptions to the above will be considered on an individual basis.
Applicants whose first language is not English must have a minimum TOEFL 213 by computer/550 by paper, IELTS 6.0, completion of AIMT English for Foreign Students programme or equivalent.
Appliants must be 18 years or older.
Admission to various entry levels is subject to final approval from the awarding institution/university.
